Advocating Against Violence

In March, approximately 115 women safely gathered in the meeting facility at Grace Children’s Hospital to recognize International Women’s Day 2019. The event included a cultural program as well as a training session, “Violence based on gender and the importance of women in the community.”

Historically, Haiti has had one of the highest rates of reported violence against women in the world. A 2009 paper by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights states that over 90 percent of Haitian women have experienced some form of violence in their lives.

The program explored ways to counteract genderbased violence and violence in families. It was organized by the Integrated Community Health program of Grace Children’s Hospital and Health Project, which is funded by the Caris Foundation.

International Child Care and Grace Children’s Hospital are dedicated to the safety and well-being of  women and families. Your support is needed to ensure that these types of educational programs continue. Please donate to Grace Children’s Hospital today!
