Race for Grace Continues to Grow Beyond Hotter ‘n Hell 100

Since 2007, Race for Grace has been Grace Children’s Hospital’s largest annual fundraiser. The fundraiser started with a cycling team participating in the annual Hotter 'n Hell 100 every August in Wichita Falls, Texas. But the needs at GCH have grown and Race for Grace has been growing too!

Grace Children's Hospital has many supporters who want to do what they can to support the children and families of Haiti, but not everyone can get to Wichita Falls in August. So now, the Race for Grace participants are getting creative! Here are examples of what various Race for Grace participants did this summer:

The Hathcock family team in Colorado chose a day in early September to summit Longs Peak - the most difficult climb in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Children at Waples UMC in Denison, TX, chose a Sunday morning in August to ride their tricycles, small bikes, and scooters through the church hallways. Each time they completed the circular route, they would collect cash from the adults present in their Sunday School meetings.
Pastor Tommy Brumett of FUMC McKinney, TX, held a "Walk with the Pastor" event through the streets of the city on a Saturday morning in August. He invited participants of all ages to walk and raise awareness of GCH.
Chuck Andrews and his family chose a day in September in honor of his birthday to do a spin class in Chicago. The class was led by a family member who worked at a local gym.
Scout Troop 605 in Texas had a day of athletic activities in October at a local high school field in order to fundraise for GCH. Many of them are earning Scout badges.

By participating, every Race for Grace team member helps raise awareness of the work of Grace Children’s Hospital and in general, of the global healthcare inequities that exist around the world, especially in Haiti. Together, the Race for Grace team raised nearly $50,000 in 2025. We thank all who have participated as team members and donors. Please join us again in 2026!
